Here is a slight modification to this recipe resembling the traditional “Taralli Napoletani” (without the lard!) should you want to go nuts - no pun intended 😀
Modification to the recipe:
Add 2 cups roasted almonds, chopped (or keep whole), to the flour and mix well.
When dough is ready, roll onto a slightly floured surface and cut dough into 1.8 ounce pieces, then roll each piece into 8 inch strips (thin cylinder shaped) and cut in half. Bring the ends of each strip together and twist each strip around each other. Finally, close the strips to form a round “tarallo”!
Feel free to top with whole almonds before baking.
